Feliz Navidad!!!

Another year is going towards its end and this one has been a *very* special one due to many reasons, most of them unexpected and some nicer than others.
I wish you all who I have met this year anywhere in the world (and even those I did not) a very nice Christmas and that your wishes may come true.
Have some nice days with your family and friends and that you may have the time to relax and enjoy those special days.

*Feliz Navidad*
*Frohe Weihnachten*
*Feliz Natal*
*Merry Christmas*

Surprise, surprise

Completely unexpected this year it was announced that there is going to be a special festive day on 24th December: Christmas.
Since some of you have already received a present from me without gift wrap paper (to reduce the global amount of gift wrap paper being thrown away after unwrapping the gift) but lovingly stuffed in a supermarket bag, you can see on the picture above the design I decided to be meant for the paper not being present at the time you received your gift.
To make the illusion perfect, just watch some time at the picture and imagine then that your present was wrapped in it.

Games on LAN.com

Here you see a picture of the popular game Hangman like it is implemented in LAN Airways. Every user in the economy class has a display in front with a touch display to handle the main menu (CD, films, music videos, radio stations) and some games which are played with the remote.

El Escorial

Saturday I visited San Lorenzo de El Escorial near Madrid, a place where I have been 12 years ago. It is also a World Heritage Site, and more information can be obtained here and also here.

The defense

From the inside you see how the design was made to limit the options of the counterpart. This is how the attacker should behave to strengthen the defense. That it has worked so far is proven by the existence of the castle.
By the way, the city is also famous for it´s food :)

The obstacle

When you are outside, you just see the obstacle and the only thing you know is that there must be a way to get inside. This is often a strategic problem which changes in symptoms but not in structure.
Overestimating the problem through focussing on the obvious is part of the game.

The city was declared in 1985 as World Heritage Site.
The castle is well preserved and one of the two highlights of the city.

To IPod or to not IPod?

I think this year there will be no electronic presents for me under the christmas tree. In the end a good book or a nice trip away brings me more fun than a gadget.

Quote of the day:
"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." -Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc. 1989

By the way, Yahoo has started a similar service: http://answers.yahoo.com/

Some background information is also available.

Nevertheless, if you want to get some also funny answers you still have to ask *me* personally.

Modus operandi: "Roadrunner"

Talked today with a friend about her and my job.
Looks like more and more people are getting to live a "web" live.
Nice to read: FastCompany

Artificial Artificial Intelligence ??

Amazon has launched a site which seems a little strange to me.
As Amazon puts emphasis on the more mechanical side of the work which is being paid to do, a theme some of us surely will recognize .) Google has a service which seems to be much more fun and also looks more interesting: Answers @ Google

Remains the question: What is the answer for questions not asked?
